I am an avid backpacker with a deep passion for exploring different parts of the world. I have embarked on journeys throughout Africa, Asia, and Europe, immersing myself in the diverse cultures I’ve encountered. Matthew is particularly drawn to traditional cultures, fascinated by the people and their unique crafts.
For over ten years, I have been actively involved in buying, selling, and supporting traditional artisan craft makers in small cottage industries in Asia. I recognise the value of preserving and promoting these crafts, which are often deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the communities that create them.
My love for trees and nature led me to study Arboriculture, where I gained knowledge and appreciation for the natural world. I understand the importance of environmental conservation and the intricate relationship between humans and their natural surroundings.
Currently working as a field archaeologist, My passion for history, especially in anthropology, shines through. I am dedicated to uncovering the past and making connections between different eras, civilisation, and cultures. My work allows me to delve into the rich tapestry of human history and bring it to life.
My first travel experience in 1982, during a school trip on an educational cruise around the Mediterranean, sparked my lifelong love for travel. Since then, I have continued to feed my wanderlust and have embarked on numerous adventures, each contributing to a broad perspective and understanding of the world.
With my diverse interests in traditional cultures, artisan crafts, trees, nature, and history, I embody a curious and passionate explorer who seeks to forge connections between different aspects of the human experience, past and present.
