An adventure of a lifetime

Overlanding in East Africa

Overlanding first started in Australia in the mid 19th century where pastoralists would take their livestock across long distances to market through the outback over difficult terrain on horseback or walking. This practice is called droving. Modern Overlanding still has the spirit of adventure at its core but uses vehicles for exploration. It is the perfect way to get away from the tourist-trodden trails and see the real country in a purpose built passenger truck holding up to 30 people. These custom built trucks are made to deal with some of the toughest terrain perfect for on road and off road. The trucks carry everything you need from tents and camping equipment, food, chairs, cooking equipment, eating utensils, professionally compiled medical kitw, amps to plug your charging phones and accessories, camp stools, water tank and of course your luggage. Overlanding is for group tours so if you don't know each other at the start you will do by the end of the trip. Everyone helps out, these trips rely on team work which gives a real family feel. Trips can be from 2 weeks upwards, there's no limits as you could cross continents which could take months. You have to be very self sufficient buying food and supplies from local markets. Overlanding is a great way to see countries as you really get off the beaten track visiting small tribal villages and out of the way beauty spots that aren't on the tourist map. Camping out under the stars with amazing backdrops you can really get back to nature. Your adventure can be tailor made to suit what your group requires. There may be certain places you want to visit and the tour operator can fill in the gaps or you may want more of a tried and tested overland route of which there are many. Routes can be changed as long as it's within the time frame of your trip. This way of travel is open to all and is a very cost effective way to travel long distances. If your group doesn't want to camp there are places to stay with rooms from luxury lodges, hotels and most big campsites will also have rooms, it all depends on your budget. Overlanding in East Africa has so much to offer from safari parks to the beach there is so much you can do and see.
